Neighbourhood

Annex Garden is located just a two minute stroll from College Street, the hub of Toronto’s charming Little Italy neighbourhood. Once home to Italian immigrants who first settled here in the early part of the 20th Century, Little Italy has gentrified but stayed close to its European roots. The magnificent tree-lined side streets boast a stunning collection of restored Edwardian and Victorian homes with ornate architectural details.

Little Italy is easily walkable to many specialty stores and boutiques. You will also find some of the best dining the city has to offer in this village peppered with trattorias, trendy restaurants, fruit and vegetable stands, gourmet food shops, an ice cream shop and a gelateria, bakeries, coffee houses and cafes that all brim with la dolce vita!

Little Italy has so much to experience, you may never want to stray beyond its borders. But just to the East is not-to-be-missed Kensington Market, about a 15 minute walk from Annex Garden. The Kensington neighbourhood is a hot spot and a popular Toronto shopping destination. It is a maze of narrow streets and alleys, lined with brightly coloured Victorian houses, food stalls and open markets, vintage clothing shops and uncommon goods. A visit to Kensington Market is like a sensory trip around the world with finds from Europe, the Caribbean, the Middle East, South American and Asia. It is also a vegetarian and vegan mecca with many restaurant and food shop options. The international flavour of Kensington Market reflects the diverse cultural mix of this colourful Toronto neighbourhood.
